Are you reaping the rewards of the CSA Farming Model scheme?
After speaking with some of our customers about their distribution methods and maintain cash flow through every season, we stumbled upon this great initiative, adopted in Australia from an originally US model of farming.
Community Supported Agriculture is a localised food production and distribution system which links the consumer directly with the farmer and your fresh produce.
Consumers are becoming more and more insistent that they know exactly where their food is coming from, that it is fresh, Aussie grown and most importantly that the profits are going directly to Aussie farmers.
While this may take a bit of organisation on the farmers’ part to establish the system, CSA allows the farmer to come to an agreement with the customer whereby you are paid in advance for a month or up to a year’s supply. The idea is that you will then have the ability to confidently invest in sustainable land management projects and be able to just focus on what you’re good at, food production!
Food Connect assists farmers in the distribution of their produce by helping to deliver the boxes to satellite locations throughout the Brisbane area. Alternatively, farmers can set up their own CSA model direct with their loyal customers.
Small-scale or small family farmers reap the most benefits from this innovative idea as they are able to feel confident of a market for their produce throughout the season.
